The Demographic Analysis Section is responsible for monitoring and reporting on demographic trends in BC and the rest of Canada. The section also conducts research and analyses on the size, structure and distribution of the BC population, how it has changed over time and how it could change in the future. In order to conduct this work, the section reports on, collects and maintains information on births, deaths, mobility as well as the age and gender of the population.
In addition to producing sub-provincial estimates and projections of population for standard BC regions like development regions, regional districts and local health areas, custom estimates and projections of non-standard regions can also be arranged.
