Small Business in British Columbia

A joint product of BC Stats, the Ministry of Small Business and Revenue, Small Business BC and Western Economic Diversification Canada, this annual publication provides a profile of BC's small businesses, including number of businesses, employment and GDP.

Business Indicators

Business Indicators is a monthly release providing a range of up-to-date economic and financial data, including production and shipping for British Columbia's major industries, consumer price index, incorporations and bankruptcies, retail sales, wages, unemployment, etc.

Small Business Quarterly

The Small Business Quarterly presented a wide range of statistics of interest and relevance to the small business sector, covering such topics as self-employment, bankruptcies, and business conditions. This release has been discontinued, but feature articles from past issues are available.

Small and Medium-Sized Exporters

This study provides a profile of BC's small and medium-sized exporters, their numbers and the value of their exports, the industries and commodities which are most important to them, the markets they serve, and how they compare to exporters in other provinces.

Small Business Profiles

Detailed financial and employment data on small businesses by industry. The Profiles provide performance benchmarks for the financial planning of start-up and established small and medium sized businesses. The data also provide information for use in government policy decisions.

The most recent data available is:
  • by North American Industry Classification System (NAICS): 2000, 2002 and 2004.
  • by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC): 1993, 1995, and 1997.
