- If you are looking for data for a particular commodity or region, a good source of data is
Industry Canada's
Strategis site. This site offers free downloads of
international trade statistics at the 6-digit level (values only)
and their Canadian Importers Database
provides lists of companies importing goods into Canada, by product and city.
- Statistics Canada now offers free downloads of data from its
Canadian International Trade Database. Data is available at the 6-digit level in both values and quantities.
- Statistics Canada also offers data with more detail (8-digit export codes and 10-digit imports), including volumes as well as values.
The data are available online, but there is
a fee involved.
- Statistics Canada has a search engine for
Export Classification codes used in Canada, as well as a conversion utility to convert US Import HS10
codes to Canadian export HS8 codes. Also, the
Canadian Export Classification catalogue can be downloaded from Statistics Canada.
- Canada Border Services Agency has a list of
Import codes used in Canada.
- The US Census Bureau has a list of
Export codes used in the United States, while the US International Trade Commission has a list of the
Import codes used in the United States.
- The British Columbia Manufacturer's Directory may be searched to
produce a list of firms in British Columbia identifying themselves as exporters.
- The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International
Trade has information on Canadian trade missions and the latest news related to foreign trade.
