Canada

  • 2001 Community Profiles Many levels of geographic detail in all provinces and territories with several pages detailing selected characteristics. Search by name or by map.
  • 2001 Aboriginal Population Profile. These profiles contain free information on the Aboriginal identity population for various communities in Canada where the Aboriginal identity population is above 250. Communities, include; cities, towns, villages, Indian reserves and Indian settlements, counties or their equivalents and metropolitan areas.
  • 2001 Aboriginal Peoples Survey Community Profiles. These profiles contain free information on the adult Aboriginal identity population for selected communities in Canada where the Aboriginal identity population is 200 or more according to the 2001 Census.

Alberta

  • 2004 Provincial Electoral Division (PED) Profiles. A series of 84 separate publications (83 PEDs plus an Alberta summary). Older 1996 Census based profiles were available as of December 10, 2003.
  • Census of Agriculture. The data is specific to Alberta, and unlike an earlier spring release by Statistics Canada, targets a lower level of geography, namely, County, Municipality, and Improvement District. The data for this lower level of geography was obtained through a special custom run from Statistics Canada.

Saskatchewan

  • Some county and city breakouts for summary and detailed characteristics from the 2001 Census. No census page so explore several links from the home page.
  • Provincial Electoral District Profiles (10 pages per district) The statistical profiles are compiled from data collected from a 20% sample of households and includes characteristics such as home language, ethnic origin, place of birth, education, religion, labour force activity, housing costs and income. The data in these reports are derived from block information whose geography matches the constituency boundaries.

Manitoba

  • This site provides a comprehensive listing of information on every community and region in Manitoba. Each community profile offers up-to-date information covering everything from location (maps) to quality of life indicators (demographics, population, labour force, education, history, recreational facilities) to economic indicators (utilities, transportation, taxation, land, buildings & development). Includes some 2001 Census data.

Ontario

Quebec

  • Click on a region on the map or the text to obtain the list of tables available on this region and its regional county municipalities (RCM) or click on all administrative regions and province of Québec.
  • General access page to regional and provincial data for the census. Also provides access to a wide range of current data sets such as Survey of Household Spending, Economic Accounts, Private and Public Investment, by region.

New Brunswick

  • New Brunswick is working to develop 2001 Census Profiles for New Brunswick counties, provincial electoral districts and community economic development agencies. No link available at this time.

Nova Scotia

  • Nova Scotia Community Counts website is available on the internet to the general public at www.gov.ns.ca/finance/communitycounts

    Nova Scotia Community Counts is a publicly accessible website that provides data for Nova Scotia communities free of charge. Through the site, communities can better know themselves by exploring the social and economic circumstances in which they live.

    Nova Scotia Community Counts is a work in progress. The Current Status item in the left side bar provides details of what is included at this time and the work that is under development.

Prince Edward Island

Newfoundland and Labrador

  • 2001 Census results, population by age and sex for small areas, all other characteristics at province level only.
  • Community Accounts provides detailed community and regional information based on 1996 Census.

Yukon

  • High level data at territory level only, but multi-census time series offers useful insights.

Northwest Territories

  • View and download summary and detailed statistical information on topics such as housing, language, ethnicity, education, labour force, and income. Small area geography is available.
